Las Vegas-based music festival Sick New World has been axed ahead of its April 2025 run date due to “unforeseen circumstances.” The festival was cancelled just two months after the line-up was revealed.

A one-day festival, Sick New World was set to return to the Las Vegas Festival Grounds for the third time on Saturday, 12 April.

Next year’s festival was supposed to feature headliners Metallica and the recently reformed Linkin Park. It was also set to feature the reunion of Acid Bath, who broke up in 1997, and acts including Queens Of The Stone Age, Evanescence, Gojira, AFI, Three Days Grace, The Flaming Lips, the Melvins, Meshuggah, Testament, Mastodon, Refused, Kittie, Underoath, Exodus, Lacuna Coil, and many more.

Known for its nu-metal focus (with the spotlight also on industrial and goth-inspired heavy music), the 2025 event looked like it was going to expand into thrash metal.

“It is with great disappointment that we announce that Sick New World will no longer take place in Las Vegas on April 12, 2025,” festival organisers wrote on Instagram.

The statement continued, “Despite our best efforts, we’ve encountered unforeseen circumstances that we are unable to overcome for next year’s show. We extend our heartfelt thanks to all the dedicated SNW fans who had made plans to join us for another cultural celebration of hard rock, goth, alternative, and heavy music. Please stay tuned for further and future information regarding Sick New World.

“Tickets purchased directly from Front Gate Tickets will be automatically refunded to the original method of payment in as little as 30 days.”

The first edition of Sick New World occurred in 2023. Described as the sister festival to the pop-punk-oriented When We Were Young, both festivals are held at the same venue and operated by the same company, Live Nation Entertainment.

Previous iterations of the event have included System Of A Down as headliners (2023 and 2024), as well as acts like Slipknot, Korn, Deftones, Turnstile, Bring Me The Horizon, Spiritbox, Alice In Chains, Lamb Of God, Bad Omens, Ministry, Static-X, Sleep Token, Body Count, and many more.
