A mega seven-song performance brought the house down at the MCG
There wasn't a dry eye in the house as Robbie Williams took to the AFL Grand Final stage this afternoon with a rousing tribute to John Farnham, performing his mega hit You're The Voice. The performance was punctuated with Jack himself on the big screens and in true Grand Final spectacle form, the stadium was full of flag-wavers, dancers and pyrotechnics.
Williams also dedicated his hit Angels to the recently departed Shane Warne after opening the blistering set with Let Me Entertain You and Rock DJ. The British superstar started his signature opener rising from the stage on a massive podium, before coming back down to the stage.
"Hello Australia, my name is Robbie Williams. I am joined by my Aussie band, my Aussie dancers and for the next twenty minutes I'm going to be phenomenal, so you'd better be good."
And he pretty much was.
Williams also performed Lost XXV from his new album, but for the most part stuck to the hits, rolling out Feel before hitting hard with You're The Voice and ending the seven track set with Kids.
The rumoured duet with Kylie Minogue unfortunately didn't eventuate, with Delta Goodrem joining RW for the female parts to close off what was one of the better Grand Final performances in the long and varied history of AFL pre-match entertainment. Delta, sparkly outfits and horns? We're here for it. It might not have been Kyles, but Delta brough the high notes that Kyles could only have dreamed of in a finale high on energy and spark.

Nobody's ever accused Robbie of underconfidence, but he's also delivers and at least on this occasion, we'd have to agree that we let him entertain us and he did. You can relax now Robbie. The Grand Final curse is back in the cupboard for another day.
