In a statement to HipHopDX, White confirmed that Doe B was shot three times. Although details are sparse, White's tweets suggest the incident took place in a club in his home state.
“The world has lost a great person and a genius artist way to soon,” he said.
The Centennial Hill Bar & Grill has been closed by the Mayor of Montgomery, Todd Strange, after the shooting, which also claimed the life of 21-year-old female Kiberle Johnson, as well as Glenn Thomas, aka DOE B.
According to local media outlet WSFA, Johnson was pronounced dead at the scene while Thomas died after being transferred to hospital. Six other people were injured in the incident, which took place at around 1.30am on Saturday morning.
In a statement the Mayor said, “We do not take this action lightly, but believe this decision is compelled by clear evidence that continued operation of this establishment poses an imminent threat to the public's safety. Just this morning a 21-year-old young woman and a 22-year-old young man were shot and killed there, and six other young adults were shot and wounded. The shootings occurred despite the presence of the club's security and repeated cautions from the City.
He added, “I believe it is not a matter of 'if', but 'when' the next tragic incident occurs at this business. That is unacceptable, and that is why we have ordered the business to be closed effective immediately.”
On Twitter White added that there is a significant back-log of material that will be released.
Management company The Blueprint Group, who have previously worked with Doe B, also issue a statement.
They wrote, “Doe B was an amazing young man, in every sense of the word. A truly talented artist, a loving father and a dedicated member of the hip hop community at large, he touched the lives of the many people who had the privilege of knowing him.
"The Blueprint Group offers our condolences to his label Interscope/Hustle Gang, management DJ Frank White and Brooklyn Knights, and most of all his family, friends and fans at this very difficult time. We ask that you remember him not by his untimely death, but by his love of life and the music he left behind.”
Doe B's Let Me Find Out remix, which features T.I., has attracted over 2,700,000 views on YouTube after it was posted earlier this year. It comes from his Trap Life mix tape.
