The Music chooses one song every week as its Power Pick, shining a light on ONE Aussie song that we think has the potential to be the next big Australian chart hit.

Our Power Pick committee consists of Richard Kingsmill (consultant and former triple j Group Music Director), Maddy Rowe (Nova nights announcer), Nic Kelly (Hit Network nights announcer), Ash McGregor (host of Listen Up with Ash McGregor), Kent “Smallzy” Small (Host of ‘The Smallzy Show’ on the Kiis Network), Irene Hulme (radio consultant and host of Game Changers Radio podcast) and Ollie Wards (ex-Head of Music for TikTok Australia).

Fresh from taking out the award for Most Performed Country Work at the 2026 APRA Music Awards, the fast-rising Rachael Fahim is in the middle of a purple patch.

Releasing her debut album, Who You Are, on May 1st, Fahim is already into a national tour celebrating the release of her first record – one which has been generating plenty of positive acclaim upon its arrival, and has been preceded by plenty of excitement in the lead-up.

Right in the middle of of Who You Are is Fahim’s latest single, the emotional Take It Back – one which she describes as “the rawest and the most honest moment on the album.”

“That last line of the chorus still hits me straight in the heart,” explains Fahim. “Instead of love being just a feeling in this song, Take It Back turns the idea of love into something tangible, like a piece of clothing you're having second thoughts about or maybe it's the new mug that you see is shattered as soon as you've opened the box, so you return it.. if only feelings worked the same way. Someone needs to review this ‘no returns or refunds’ policy please!"

“I really like how Take It Back ties in to the whole album, with the theme being lessons learnt and learning who you are along the way,” she adds. “Even if you could take it all back, I don't think I would be who I am today without all of the experiences and the ups and downs I've been through.”

“Rachael Fahim is about as good as an Australian success story gets – an artist who’s built a loyal fanbase through grit, work and an intense live schedule prioritised over viral moments and short term memory hits,” says Nic Kelly.

“Her writing is that magic balance of personal & sticky – she has everything she needs to be our next great country pop export in a time where global country is everywhere.”

Tickets to Fahim’s current album tour are on sale now.
