Melbourne bogan funk outfit Playlunch are back with a new single, and with the music video for Keith, they’ve teamed up with AFL Hall of Famer Barry Hall to portray the male version of a “Karen.”
Hall is the titular character in the Keith music video. Known for his outbursts during AFL games, as well as his playing abilities, these days, Hall describes himself as a “lover, not a fighter.”
Donning a blue singlet, black shorts, and wrap-around sunglasses, Hall takes Keith’s tantrums to the next level, and as noted in a press release, the music video wouldn’t be complete without the re-enactment of Big Bad Baz’s infamous punch on the field in 2008.

To accompany the release of their new single, Playlunch has set up a 1800 KEITH hotline for fans to outline their stories about Keiths and find the biggest Keith in the country.
Keith follows the release of Playlunch’s viral tune Boys, which provided scathing commentary about boorish male culture. But the new single takes things further by recalling the story of the band living next to a “psycho tradie neighbour.”

Band leader Liam Bell explained, “Keith regales the tale of the psycho tradie neighbour who lived beside us at our old outer-Melbourne sharehouse. Inseparable from his Ute and beloved two-wheeler trailer, Keith would terrorise the streets, verbally assaulting anyone who DARED leave their car in the on-street parking out front of his house. From the moment we first played it live, this one has been a fan favourite - no matter who you are or where you come from, EVERYONE knows a Keith.”
Playlunch’s new album will be released later this year.
In November, Playlunch signed with ABC Music. “To go from writing songs about watching the ABC as a kid, to signing on to be an ABC artist is pretty f*cking surreal,” the group commented in a statement.
“This deal isn’t just a great opportunity for us to grow our reach and expand our audience, but it’s also a massive vote of confidence in what we’ve been doing with the band so far.”
