Nine Inch NailsA few weeks ago, Nine Inch Nails frontman Trent Reznor made headlines when, live on stage, he said, “I don’t know if we’re gonna be touring anymore,” following the end of their Peel It Back tour.
Now, the industrial rocker has clarified his comments, saying he was “misconstrued” and that new music could lead to more touring plans.
Nine Inch Nails performed the final show of the North American Peel It Back run on Monday (16 March) in Sacramento, California. During the show, he reflected on his past comments and said the band could tour again.
“As some of you may know, this is the last show of the tour. And to be clear, I think I said something the other day that then got misconstrued into something that is not intentionally necessarily true,” Reznor said, per Consequence of Sound.
He continued, “What I said was, this is the last show of this tour, and we don’t have any shows booked, and we don’t have any plans to book any shows any time in the future, so far. That doesn’t mean we may not tour again. We may tour again. It won’t be next month; it won’t be this year.”

Reznor added that he never said the band were “intentionally stopping” and “never meant that.” He also stated that, before the Peel It Back tour, Nine Inch Nails hadn’t toured for “a while” – since 2022 – because “frankly, I didn’t know if we could do it well, and if it still mattered, and if it really [felt] like we had something to say.”
He said the combination of the band, its crew, and heaps of hard work led to putting on a show he’s “really fucking proud of.”
Reznor concluded that, for now, the plan is to work on new music, and if the band feels inspired and believes they can beat the Peel It Back tour, they’ll hit the road again.
“What we’re going to do is work on some new music and make some new shit,” he explained. “And if we feel inspired, and if we feel we can beat this [tour], we’ll see you again
“What we’re going to do is work on some new music and make some new shit,” he explained. “And if we feel inspired, and if we feel we can beat this [tour], we’ll see you again. And I hope to see you again, and I hope you come see us if we do.”

Nine Inch Nails will perform again next month, when they team up with Boys Noize and play a set as Nine Inch Noize at Coachella.
In December 2024, Reznor confirmed that the band were working on new music. “We’re taking the inspiration we’ve garnered [from film compositions] and funnelling it into a Nine Inch Nails project, which we’re working on now. We’re ready to be back in the driver’s seat.”
Nine Inch Nails last toured Australia in 2014, co-headlining with Queens Of The Stone Age. Hopefully, the next tour stops here.
