"Hugely inspirational."

Philippe Zdar, aka Philippe Cerboneschi, of French duo Cassius, has died aged 50.

As reported by ABC, his agent, Sebastien Farran, confirmed to AFP that Zdar "died accidentally" when he fell from a Parisian building on Wednesday evening.

"He made an accidental fall, through the window of a high floor of a Parisian building," Farran said.

A pioneering French producer, Zdar was at the cutting edge across 90s and 00s music and is known for collaborating with the likes of Beastie Boys, Phoenix, Franz Ferdinand, The Rapture, Cat Power, Cut Copy and more.

A number of local artists have expressed their shock and sadness on social media at the news with Flight Facilities saying "Zdar laid the ground work for a lot of today's dance music".
