Perth trio Dulcie have announced that they’re calling it quits after six years as a band.

The band, which includes vocalist and keyboardist Ashleigh Carr-White, vocalist and bassist Timieka Denton, and vocalist/guitarist Saskia Brittain, announced their breakup on social media last week.

Last year, Dulcie made it to The Music’s Underground Gems competition in partnership with Mountain Goat.

The Music’s Emma Whines said of their career: “Releasing their first single, Fall, in 2019, the band then went on to release their beloved Sake Of Sound EP in 2021. Now, with fresh infectious tunes under their belt, Dulcie are forging ahead with a bigger and better sound that will be sure to grow their already major following.”

Dulcie’s most recent track, Sore Loser, was released in November.

The trio enjoyed an impressive career releasing their own music, touring, appearing on festival lineups like Spilt Milk, and opening for Ocean Alley, Amy Shark, King Stingray, and more.

Announcing their breakup on social media, Dulcie wrote that it’s with “full beaming hearts” that they revealed the disbandment of their beloved band.

“This project has been our absolute everything for the past six years, and we cannot begin to put into words how much we are going to miss playing and creating music for you all,” they continued.

In the statement, Dulcie thanked their fans and streamers, the writers and producers they worked with, as well as family and friends who encouraged their journey within the music industry.

“Playing in Dulcie has been the most beautiful, crazy, thrilling time of our lives and we hope you got to share in that feeling in some way or another,” the band wrote. “We've learnt so much, grown so much and shared our early twenties, creating some of the most beautiful memories we will never forget.

“We're leaving this band with the fullest of hearts and so much gratitude for all of the amazing experiences we've had along the way.”

In response to their breakup announcement, Dulcie’s post was met with an outpouring of community support and sadness from fellow bands Joan And The Giants, DICE, South Summit, Hockey Dad, and more, with West Australian Music, triple j Unearthed and other industry figures wishing the band well on their next ventures.
