He will capture the essence of Shotgun Karaoke on tape.
The great Paul Dempsey has just wrapped up a massive tour of the country with his band Something For Kate and now he's getting set to jump back out there, announcing a big solo tour, along with a pretty cool sounding new EP, this morning.
On that recent Something For Kate tour, Dempsey took to ffilming a bunch of cover versions of classic songs and posting them on the band's Facebook page. They went down so well that he has now decided to get into the studio to lay a few of them down properly for a special one-off EP called Shotgun Karaoke.
We're not entirely sure what songs will be featured, but given he did versions of songs like Talking Heads' This Must Be The Place, Husker Du's Don't Wanna Know If You Are Lonely, David Bowie's Space Oddity, Queen's I Want to Break Free and R.E.M.'s Losing My Religion, we're pretty confident the songs will be good.

On top of that, Something For Kate dropped Calvin Harris and Florence Welch's Sweet Nothing at Splendour, but we're not sure if that will make an appearance as well. We'll find out when the EP is released on Friday 4 October.
What's most exciting is that the EP is giving Dempsey a chance to get back to intimate venues across the country, dates for his tour are below and you can grab tickets from Thursday morning. Emerging Melburnian Olympia will be heading along for the ride, opening all shows on the tour.
