More Panic! At The Disco More Panic! At The Disco

The highly anticipated Australian return for Nevada alt-rock favourites Panic! At The Disco saw a line fading into the depths of Perth’s Fringe Pleasure Garden, as the first of many sold out shows around the country took over Metro City.

Ready To Go

Apart from Soundwave 2014, Panic! At The Disco had not hit Perth with a proper tour since 2008. They broke into Don’t Threaten Me With A Good Time, with frontman Brendon Urie in formal attire, dazzling the stage with his presence. The scorching Perth weather didn't have any impact on the band at all, as they paced themselves throughout a tight, sweaty set and kept the energy buzzing.

Brendon Urie still has it

The man is like a real life Energizer bunny; his presence on stage was infectious. His crazy dance moves and smile keep growing, culminating in insane backflips.

As a performer, Urie still holds an incredible vocal range, hitting all the high notes and not skipping a beat. Brendon Urie was born to entertain.

old vs. new

From the techno madness of Time To Dance, the hypnotic, catchy beat of Nine In The Afternoon and roaring vocals in Victorious, the 18-song set plunged into the band's entire catalogue. No favourite was overlooked, however, signature key songs like Lying Is The Most Fun A Girl Can Have Without Taking Her Clothes Off and But It’s Better If You Do, didn’t make the list. The show was more focused on the newer material rather than the old, but the crowd didn’t seem to mind as each song saw another level of excitement where singing, dancing and laughter kept growing.

No signs of slowing down

“I’ve been part of Panic! for 13-years now, so thank you,” Urie stated as he grinned and then chuckled, “I swear I’m still 19.” Their performance beamed with energy, especially during I Write Sins Not Tragedies from their 2005 debut album, A Fever You Can’t Sweat Out. The excitement received from a sold out crowd spoke volumes when everyone in the house was singing at the top of their lungs, bringing pure joy across the band's faces as the crowd didn’t miss a word.
