Plans for the airing of a new documentary celebrating the life and legacy of late metal pioneer Ozzy Osbourne will not be going ahead, with the BBC pulling the program ahead of its scheduled airdate.

Titled Ozzy Osbourne: Coming Home, the one-hour documentary was originally scheduled to air at 9pm on Monday, August 18th in the UK, though was instead dropped from the evening’s broadcasting line up in favour of Fake Or Fortune: What Happened Next? A Double Whodunnit.

According to Deadline, a spokesperson from the BBC addressed the schedule shift, noting, “The film has moved in the schedules, and we’ll confirm new TX details in due course.”

No specific reason has been given as for the documentary’s removal from the broadcasting schedule, and no replacement date has been announced either. International broadcast details are expected to follow, with the documentary reportedly set to be hosted on the BBC’s iPlayer service as well.

According to a synopsis, the film – which was originally titled Ozzy Osbourne: Home To Roost – was shot over the course of three years, following the final chapter of Osbourne’s life as he and wife Sharon return home to the English country house in Buckinghamshire after 25 years in Los Angeles.

The documentary also captures Osbourne’s preparation for his final live appearance as part of the Back To The Beginning concert, which took place on July 5th – just 17 days before Osbourne’s passing at the age of 76.

“We are honored to have had the opportunity to film with Ozzy and his family,” said Clare Sillery, BBC’s head of Commissioning, Documentaries in a statement earlier this month. “The film captures an intimate glimpse into their journey as they prepare to return to the U.K.

“It features family moments, humor, reflection and shows the enduring spirit that made Ozzy a global icon. We hope it brings comfort and joy to Ozzy’s fans and viewers as they remember and celebrate his extraordinary life.”
