Of Monsters And Men On Their Expansive Career & The Music Industry: "I Can Really See How Bizarre A Lot Of It Is"

Not AI: Enter Shikari Detail Creation Of Dangerous, Real Album Cover

“It was important to us in an age where everything seems to be driven by AI slop, we really wanted the album to feel real, and the artwork to reflect that,” Enter Shikari singer Rou Reynolds said.

British electronicore outfit Enter Shikari shocked fans when they released a surprise album last month called Lose Your Self. However, they didn’t manage to beat the AI allegations surrounding the intricate album artwork—until now.

The album artwork depicts an individual submerged or diving towards a coloured tree, backlit by bright blues, with large trees on either side.

In pictures and footage shared by the band’s team, and now, in a behind-the-scenes clip on YouTube, it’s clear that said individual is Enter Shikari frontman Rou Reynolds, hanging off a harness.

The striking image is very real and was captured as a result of the always energetic entertainer’s painstaking, somewhat dangerous antics.

The newly uploaded video sees Reynolds suspended upside down from a crane to capture the photograph that fans see on the album. There was a medical team on-site, with strict four-minute limits enforced for his health and safety. The image turned out stunning, and it definitely isn’t AI-generated.

“It was important to us in an age where everything seems to be driven by AI slop, we really wanted the album to feel real, and the artwork to reflect that,” Reynolds shared.

“We’re delighted to present LOSE YOUR SELF and give people the chance to hear a Shikari record like never before - as a cohesive whole,” Reynolds said upon the surprise release of the album last month. “We want people to go on a proper journey with this album and see where it takes them.”

He continued, “No lead-up, no singles, and no explanation. Forcing the listener to actually listen, without being drip-fed ideas out of context, or spoon-fed explanations. We simply present it all, for the listener to immerse themself in.

“Releasing in this way was also a decision to not be distracted by chart races, or accolades and ‘things.’ We got the No.1 album on our last record. This is simply about the music being presented in a natural way.”

Enter Shikari return to Australia this month for their first headline tour since 2022—they last performed for audiences Down Under at last year’s Knotfest.

The tour will kick off in Perth on Thursday, 14 May, and continue with dates in Adelaide, Melbourne, Frankston, Newcastle, Sydney, Brisbane, and on the Sunshine Coast, wrapping up the shows on Sunday, 24 May. For the tour, Enter Shikari will be joined by special guest grandson, who effortlessly blends anthemic rock with hip-hop.

Tickets to the tour are available now.
