Tom Dumont, the guitarist in the rock band No Doubt, revealed that he’s been diagnosed with early-onset Parkinson’s disease in a candid video shared with fans.

Sharing the video on Saturday (11 April) – coinciding with World Parkinson’s Day – Dumont told fans that he was experiencing “a number of symptoms” years ago, which led to doctor and neurologist visits.

From there, he underwent several tests and received the diagnosis for early-onset Parkinson’s disease, something that’s become “a struggle every day.”

Dumont added that in recent months, he’s been preparing for No Doubt’s upcoming high-demand residency at the Sphere in Las Vegas and assured viewers that he can still play the guitar. The band’s Las Vegas residency begins on Wednesday, 6 May.

“The last couple months, getting ready for the No Doubt Sphere shows, it’s been very fun,” he continued, per Billboard. “Looking through old footage and looking at old photographs and relearning old songs and rehearsing and creating all the video stuff for the Sphere.

“It’s made me think about how grateful I am for the life I’ve gotten to lead, as a musician all these years. It’s thanks to our families and our friends and our listeners and you and everyone who’s come to our shows over the years.”

“The good news is I can still play music, I can still play guitar,” he said. “I’ve been doing really well.

“I’ve just been very inspired by other people who have come out to talk about their health issues on social media and that sort of thing. I think it helps erase some of the stigma, and it raises awareness obviously, and awareness is really important for prevention and for research.”

Dumont confirmed that he’ll still perform as part of No Doubt’s residency at the Sphere, with dates running from early May to mid-June. He also stated that he’ll publish another video on social media soon, where he’s set to delve into his diagnosis and discuss the details of his symptoms.

He concluded, “I’m really excited about the shows, can’t wait to see everybody.”

Dumont’s video was flooded with supportive comments, including messages from bandmates Adrian Young and Tony Kanal, plus fellow rockers Garbage. You can watch the reel below.

No Doubt’s residency at the Sphere marks the band’s first extended run of headline shows in 14 years.

Before their Coachella reunion in 2024, No Doubt hadn’t performed together in nine years. The band’s most recent album, Push And Shove, was released in 2012.

Upon the announcement of No Doubt’s residency at the Sphere last October, singer Gwen Stefani remarked, “The opportunity to create a show at Sphere excites me in a new way. The venue is unique and modern, and it opens up a whole new visual palette for us to be creative.

“Doing it with No Doubt feels like going back in time to relive our history, while also creating something new in a way we never could have imagined.”

Bassist Tony Kanal added, “I can’t wait to get on stage again with my bandmates. There is a beautiful energy that happens when we play together, an electricity I have felt through all of our years. To be able to leave it all on the table each night and take our fans on the insane journey that is Sphere is beyond our wildest dreams.”
