Nas, Bliss & Eso To Headline New Hip Hop Festival

With currently hyped acts like Chiddy Bang, Joey Bada$$ and Angel Haze.

More Nas More Nas

There's a new hip hop event on the calendar this April and it sees the people of Live Nation and Niche Productions are continuing on their quest to be the big guns as far as hip hop touring in Australia goes.

The event is called Movement and it covers a pretty wide array of very popular kinds of hip hop at this point in time. The bill is as follows:

Nas, Bliss n Eso, 2 Chainz, Chiddy Bang, Joey Bada$$, Angel Haze, Spit Syndicate (Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth) and Thundamentals (Sydney only)

Dates are as follows, tickets are available from 9am Monday 11 February.

Friday 26 April – Hordern Pavilion, Sydney
Saturday 27 April – Sidney Myer Music Bowl, Melbourne
Sunday 28 April – Brisbane Riverstage
Tuesday 30 April – Red Hill Auditorium, Perth

Last year Nas released yet another incredible album in Life Is Good, his 11th record and one that proves he's still as relevant as ever. We'd say more, but you're better off just kicking back with a copy of Illmatic when you get home tonight and you won't want to miss this show.

Bliss n Eso remain one of the heaviest hitters in the Australian hip hop scene and this will mark an epic return to the scene after their enormous Running On Air tour back in 2011. Given how big those dates were, we reckon there'll be plenty coming out in force for these guys alone.

2 Chainz is one of the big names in Southern hip hop and has been for quite some time. His first album Based on a T.R.U. Story was finally released in August last year and features some of the biggest names in the game

After blowing minds at Parklife at the end of last year, hipster electro hip hop duo Chiddy Bang are back to add yet another element to the diverse bill. They'll probably divide the audeince at Movement somewhat, but they'll certainly get you dancing.

Joey Bada$$ only just turned 18 a couple of weeks ago, but he's making the kind of hip hop that belies his age. With his Pro Era collective he's ensured that the New York scene remains strong and vital as opposition comes from all around the world and he takes more than a few cues from the Movement festival headliner, we reckon.

The hype that surrounds Angel Haze is not only completely justified, it's only just beginning. With four killer mixtapes and one very massive guest appearance on Rudimental'sHell Could Freezetune, she's proven she's one of the urban artists everyone needs to look out for in the near future.

The Sydney duo of Spit Syndicate have established themselves as one of the mosst loved Aussie hip hop acts in the scene right now and with a new album due in just a couple of weeks' time, we're sure the vibe on them will pick up even further as the road to Movement unfolds.

Hailing from the Blue Mountains, Thundamentals are another Aussie act on this bill that have some serious credibility and are renowned for kicking arse on the live stage. Sydney audiences are in for a treat when they see what they can do on the big stage this April.
