The MxPxScreeching Weasel co-headline tour has been cancelled, as per respective statements from the bands and promoter.

Organiser The Drunk Promoter made the announcement, via the tour's Facebook event, this evening. The two international bands were due to perform on a three-date east coast run this May.

"Normally my announcements are really exciting, but this is the opposite; it fucking sucks. I received an email from Ben saying that Screeching Weasel can no longer come to Australia this May. Unfortunately my presenting partners and I are cancelling the whole tour. Everyone gets a refund of course," a statement reads.

Following the news, Screeching Weasel offered an official update, posting:

"Hello Screeching Weasel Fans,

Unfortunately due to unforeseen circumstances we are going to have to cancel ALL of our upcoming Australia dates in May. Ticket holders will receive an automatic refund from your point of sale. If there are any issues please reach out to either Oztix or Eventbrite. We apologize for any inconvenience this has caused you, as we know many of you have made travel plans for these shows. We would also like to thank and send out an apology to MXPX band, crew and fans. They made every attempt to continue with plans to play the dates, but in the end, due to no fault of their own, it did not work out. Thanks for your support and hopefully we can make this up to you guys at some point soon.

Thank You

Screeching Weasel"

However, MxPx have elaborated and offered further insights when observing they tried to salvage the tour. According to MxPx's Mike Herrera (see video below), Zebrahead had agreed to replace Screeching Weasel, however any revised line-up did not eventuate. "The promoters didn't go for it, they sounded like they were into it, but we heard nothing back," Herrera said.
