New Zealand indie rockers The Beths have faced a devastating setback while on tour in Europe, with numerous musical instruments stolen from their van.
“Our guitars, bass guitar, cymbals, snare, and my pedal board were stolen last night from our van in Tourcoing in France, near Lille. Along with the entire rented backline,” the band wrote on Instagram today (30 September).
Along with the caption detailing the items stolen, The Beths shared photos of the stolen musical instruments. They urge anyone who has tips or sees them on resale websites to get in touch via this email address: info@lookoutkid.com.
The band continued, “We’re pretty sad, these instruments have a lot of time and love in them. More than we can express really.”
Despite the terrible news, The Beths’ show in Paris tonight will go ahead “thanks to the generosity of friends,” with the band tagging individuals who are helping with backline and lending instruments and a pedal board.

The Beths’ remaining tour dates across Europe are uncertain due to their equipment being stolen, but we hope that their instruments are found and they receive support until then.
The Beths will continue touring throughout Europe until mid-October. From the end of October until 10 December, the band will play shows in the US.
In April 2026, The Beths will return to Australia for their largest shows Down Under to date.
Touring in support of their newly-released album, Straight Line Was A Lie, the band – comprising Elizabeth Stokes, Jonathan Pearce, Benjamin Sinclair, and Tristan Deck – will hit some of the country’s most beloved venues in 2026 after a sold-out tour of Australia in 2024 and a short run of sold-out shows earlier this year.
Starting the run at Adelaide’s The Gov on Friday, 17 April, the tour continues at Perth’s Astor Theatre on Saturday, 18 April, Brisbane’s The Tivoli on Thursday, 23 April, Sydney’s Roundhouse on Friday, 24 April, and concludes at Melbourne’s Forum on Saturday, 25 April.
