The Blue King Brown frontwoman returns to Australia for this November's annual event
Byron-bred, Jamaica-based songstress Nattali Rize — she of Blue King Brown — will return to Australia for this November's Mullum Music Festival, proudly presented by The Music.
Rize relocated to Jamaica to be closer to the spiritual source of her creative urges — "There is a buzz energy here that makes creating/creativity constant," she said in a statement — but still carries a deep love for Byron Shire, and her return to the region for this year's festival, flanked by her new five-piece Jamaican/Australian backing band, will be a warm and welcome homecoming of sorts, hot on the heels of tours through USA, Europe and Japan.
"I've always had so much support from the community, whether it's from the days of drumming on the streets, to Skin, to Blue King Brown," she said. "I've been greatly inspired by the musicians and community in the Shire, part of which is reflected in my music, so it is right for me to bring this new branch of my musical expression and evolution, to a place where my musical journey has grown from."
Rize joins the likes of William Crighton, Skunkhour, Yirrmal, Eileen Jewell, Tash Sultana, Olympia, Henry Wagons, Sahara Beck and a wealth of other brilliant acts from around Australia and the world, bringing one of the most diverse and unique festival experiences in the country to the town of Mullumbimby from 17-20 November.
