Morrissey Cancelled A California Show Last-minute Because Of Faulty Stage Heating

Human wet blanket Morrissey has added to his extensive history of cancelling shows for various reasons from the legitimate to the relatively trivial by postponing a performance in Paso Robles, California, because it was too cold.

According to Stereogum (via Slicing Up Eyeballs), the one-time frontman of The Smiths kept his audience waiting for close to an hour after its scheduled start time to make the call to put off the performance, ostensibly due to a broken on-stage heating system at the venue, the Vina Robles Amphitheatre.

To be totally fair to Morrissey, who has actually been through quite a bit in recent years, the evening was said to be in the 40s, Fahrenheit — so between about 4° and 9°C — but honestly it probably wouldn't have been anything a decent coat wouldn't have solved. The man is from the north of England, after all.

His disappointed fans were variably understanding about it, as evidenced by the broad reaction to his postponement on social media.

Morrissey's current US tour is supposed to continue this Friday, 10 November, at the Hollywood Bowl, for the first of two performances at the iconic venue.

His new album, Low In High School, will be released on Friday 17 November.
