The Sydney-based singer-songwriter will be showing off his new work 'Backroads' at a special show next week.
Sydney singer-songwriter Ollie Brown recently released his excellent new EP, Backroads, and is now ready to give it a wholehearted launch with a special show at Leadbelly, in Newtown, next week.
The four-track EP is the culmination of the past several years of Brown's career, which have seen him hone his songwriting and performance skills to the point that he was chosen to support James Reyne on the icon's recent All Crawl national tour, not to mention earlier stints with the likes of Baby Animals, Ron Sexsmith, Michael Buble and The Beach Boys.
It came to life during a dedicated retreat to a friend's cabin, on the NSW mid-north coast, where Brown says he "spent a week … by the river, exploring and finding different ways to record what I was spitting out".
"I got very lost in the songs and the whole recording process, and I think it brought out a certain kind of honesty that you can hear in the music," he said.

"For me, Backroads is about the fear of losing yourself. I've never felt more involved and attached to my own work. This EP is 100 per cent me. It's the first time that I've engineered, produced and played everything, with a little help from some special friends. Backroads is free-spoken and partly stream-of-consciousness. It is the most open and honest I have ever been, and my songs will always be that way."
Brown will launch the EP on Wednesday 8 November, joined by special guests Brendon Moon and Andy Golledge.
