The Austral, nestled in the centre of Rundle Street, has been the cultural centre of Adelaide since the 1880s. The historic pub was a mainstay of the local band scene in the 80s and 90s - and it is sure to become so again, as The Austral’s band room is now officially back in the game.

General Admission Entertainment - the independent South Australian music business that functions as a booking agency, venue owner, and festival promoter - is pleased to announce that they have partnered with The Austral to bring live music back to the beloved Rundle Street pub. General Admission Entertainment have been responsible for such ongoing triumphs as the College Green series. The business is reportedly “very proud” to have been involved in The Austral’s “resurrection” as a live music venue.

Indeed, this is some much needed good news in the wake of the impending Crown and Anchor twenty-four-month hiatus.

The band room - which has the capacity to contain 150 music-lovers - has been lovingly revamped, and is now lined with disco balls and scarlet curtains. And thus The Austral is now taking forward bookings for Friday nights, and all other nights by arrangement, from March 28th.

General Admission Entertainment will be hosting a couple of very special introductory nights to kick things off at the end of March, so stay tuned for line-up announcements and more details over the coming weeks.

The East End has long been considered the beating heart of the South Australian arts scene, and this new era for The Austral is sure to further cement Rundle Street as the go-to gig spot in the city of Adelaide.
