Linkin Park have returned with an energetic new single and announced a deluxe edition of their comeback album, From Zero.
The new track, Up From The Bottom, was written and recorded as the band took From Zero on the road. Up From The Bottom is the first of three new songs to be released as part of From Zero (Deluxe Edition), which will be released via Warner Records on Friday, 16 May.
Featuring a piano riff, distorted guitars, propulsive drums, powerful singing from new vocalist Emily Armstrong, and revitalising rapping from Mike Shinoda, the song simultaneously feels like classic and modern Linkin Park.
According to a press release, new material such as Let You Fade is set to become a fan favourite “with its crushing guitars, brutal drums, and full-hearted lyrics,” and Unshatter showcases Armstrong’s “vocal fireworks.” The deluxe edition of the album will also contain five live tracks captured from the band’s recent shows.

Shinoda said of the forthcoming release, “We are so grateful for the incredible reception to From Zero. This new chapter, our continuing journey, and the connection between the band and fans has been more than we could’ve hoped for. Thank you for listening.”

The band added, “Up From The Bottom was created in between tours this year, infused with the electricity of those first shows back after a long hiatus.
“Let You Fade was a song that began during the From Zero sessions but found its final shape in sessions after the album’s release. Unshatter was an early track we made while recording From Zero; Emily’s huge vocal in the bridge was one of the moments that gave us an indication of what was possible together.”

Linkin Park last toured Australia in 2013, appearing on the Soundwave Festival bill alongside Metallica and blink-182. In 2017, following the passing of lead vocalist Chester Bennington, the band went on an indefinite hiatus before a surprise return last year.
The band has been touring the globe since January. So far, no Australian dates have been announced.
From Zero, released in November, is Linkin Park’s first album in seven years and the first to feature new vocalist Emily Armstrong alongside rapper, singer, and producer Mike Shinoda. The band made headlines around the globe when they announced their comeback last September.
