Seeing the success of Fred again.. has to be inspiring, and it might have influenced Kylie Minogue to release a “full-on dance album” which she’s reportedly working on.
Kylie Minogue has released 16 albums to date, and her most recent LPs couldn’t be more different to each other. There’s the country-inspired Golden, released in 2018; 2020’s Disco, harkening back to the music popularised by artists of the genre; and last year’s Tension, a poppy, groovy record from one of Australia’s most famous artists.
Now, a source has reportedly divulged that Minogue is already hard at work on her 17th album and eyeing a repackage of Tension featuring new songs.
“Kylie has made it clear to her team this is no time to slow down,” a source reportedly close to the Spinning Around singer said in The Sun’s Bizarre column. “Plans are already in motion for the next two albums, one of which will be a repackage of Tension with additional songs.”
The source continued, “As for the direction of album 17 it’s early days — but a full-on dance album is in the works. The plan is to release the Tension repackage towards the end of the year, with probably up to five new tracks.”

Last month, Kylie was pictured in the studio with English DJ Joel Corry, known for the hits Sorry and Head & Heart. Corry wrote in the caption on Instagram, “Been in LA writing BANGERS all week!! Lucky to work with some very special people”.
The Instagram post included a video of Corry and Minogue dancing and singing together in a muted video. Whatever they’re working on is sure to be a hit.
Kylie Minogue was due to headline this year’s Splendour In The Grass alongside rapper Future and rock band Arcade Fire. The festival was cancelled last week, just weeks after the line-up was announced.
Minogue was recently honoured with her very own Barbie doll, received the Global Icon Award at this year’s BRIT Awards, and won her second-ever Grammy Award (Best Pop Performance for Padam Padam). Plus, she collaborated with pop music icon Sia.
