"Whether it’s a relationship with a person or a vice, most of us have found ourselves, at some point, unable to let go of something that drains our life force," explains Darren Cordeux.

One of the most beloved Australian bands of the 21st century, Kisschasy have continued their run of fresh tunes in 2025, sharing their latest single, Parasite.
If you’ve been paying attention to the music world in these past few years, then you’d be well aware that Kisschasy are back. Having first waved farewell back in 2015, a 2022 reunion for Good Things gave way to further shows, including this year’s tour in support of 2007 album Hymns For The Nonbeliever’s anniversary.
This continued comeback also brought with it the release of Lie To Me in May, the band’s first piece of new music in 16 years. Now, it’s clear the first piece of new music wasn’t a one-off, with the band following things up with latest cut, Parasite.
A tribute to the group's myriad influences, Parasite describes the idea of "clinging to something that’s bad for you," as frontman Darren Cordeux explains. "Whether it’s a relationship with a person or a vice, most of us have found ourselves, at some point, unable to let go of something that drains our life force."
Recorded between Melbourne and Los Angeles, the track came together through the idea of staying true to the very organic nature of Kisschasy, right down to the equipment being used in its recording.
“We used old tube amps, old tube microphones, no autotune and very few effects; our aim being to avoid anything being overthought or overwrought,” Cordeux explains. “The trouble with modern recording is that you can get caught in this feedback loop of constantly tweaking a song to the point that it loses its spark, its soul.

“One advantage we have as a band is that we’ve been the same four members since Day One. We speak a subliminal musical language that means that, even if there are mistakes, they work somehow. Perfection is boring anyway.”
While Kisschasy are yet to make any grand statements about what these new singles are leading to, fans are undeniably holding on hope that it may result in a forthcoming album at some point in the future. Fingers crossed!
