Meet The Upcoming Aussie Who Is One Of The Most Followed Artists On TikTok

TikTok is proving to be more and more successful for upcoming local acts with one Tasmanian artist now among the platform's most watched. 

Samuel Wellings - who performs under the name Kim Dracula - has now been revealed as the second highest followed Australian account on the social media platform with 3.2 million followers.

That sounds good but what does that actually mean?

This now means that Wellings is only 700,000 followers behind the platform's top Australian user in music Sia, who has 3.9 million followers. 

In December, Wellings was #4 on the platform, just behind Iggy Azalea and Mia Rodriguez.

Tell me more about Kim Dracula...

Wellings launched the account in 2020 and has since garnered 46.3 million likes on his clips where he shares hardcore/trap metal covers of popular tracks as well as his own original content. 

He also performs as a vocalist for band Jesterpose who formed in 2017 and released their EP COVID-19 last year.

Would I know any of the TikTok covers?

The most popular of these covers is a version of Lady Gaga's Paparazzi, which has garnered 13.4 million views and 1.9 million likes on TikTok alone. 

In addition to its success on TikTok, the full version of the track has also been shared to YouTube and added to Spotify. 

How's that doing?

Very, very well. As well as the many clips set to the Paparazzi cover on TikTok, a lyric video set to the track has pulled in nearly 33 million views on YouTube, while the Spotify release has 55,883,756 listens at the time of writing. Check out the lyric video below.
