The respected troubadour has queued up four shows from Brisbane to Perth this May and June
Internationally renowned singer-songwriter Kim Churchill has lifted the veil on new single Breakneck Speed, complementing the new work's imminent arrival with the announcement of a run of tour dates that will take him from Brisbane to Perth from mid-next month.
Kicking off at The Old Museum in the Queensland capital, Churchill and his backing instrumentalists Michael Hardy (vocals/keys/drums) and Tom Myers (drums/vocals/percussion) will hit stages in Melbourne and Sydney before closing out on the west coast at Fremantle Town Hall on Saturday 3 June.
The impending sojourn comes in the wake of the new tune, which follows the Hottest 100-charting Window To The Sky (#42) and comes ahead of the man's upcoming fifth studio album, due for release later this year.
Churchill spoke of the song's worldly origins in a statement, explaining that it was born during a recent visit to Quebec City, in Canada.

"It was autumn and we were racing around the province through these tunnels of colour that all the maple trees had become," Churchill said. "Most days were under this electric blue sky as well. I was kinda on the way up emotionally. I'd been tired for a while. Like a few months... It felt like we had played a bajillion festivals and toured forever.
"Everything was flying by in a blur that was disorientating. But by the time we had arrived in the Quebec fall, I was out in front again and really felt in awe of the whole world and how fast we were racing through it. Kinda like a top-of-the-world feeling. That song became my celebration of it all."
Breakneck Speed is due to be released this Friday, 14 April.
