Kanye West, Paul McCartney Single Cracks ARIA Top 10

10 January 2015 | 6:02 pm | Staff Writer

It's been a good week for collaborations.

More Kanye West More Kanye West

It's the collaboration that set the internet on fire, and the track between Kanye West and The Beatles' legend Paul McCartney, Only One, has come in at #8 in the ARIA Singles Chart.

It didn’t quite crack the top five as anticipated, but was still the highest debut in this week’s charts.

The track was the result of an unexpected co-write and was released on New Year’s Eve. It features West’s trademarked sound with some class from McCartney, and you can check it out here.

As expected, Peking Duk’s collaboration with Safia, Take Me Over, pushed its way back into the ARIA Singles top ten and placed at #7.

The top three albums remain the same as last week: Taylor Swift's 1989 firmly holding its place at #1 plus pop juggernauts Ed Sheeran, with X, at #2 and Sam Smith, with In The Lonely Hour, at #3.

Following a hit performance on Ellen, acclaimed Australian troubadour Chet Faker sits at #14 with Built On Glass while the controversy surrounding Sia's new clip has seen her 1000 Forms Of Fear album re-enter the top 50 at #34.

With triple j’s Hottest 100 just over the horizon, the station’s Like A Version 10 has been bumped up to 18, and recent appearances at Falls and Southbound have bode well for some artists, with George Ezra moving to his peak position to date, up from #20 to #4, with Wanted On Voyage plus Vance Joy's Dream Your Life Away moving up to 20, alt-j’s This Is All Yours coming back into the charts at 28 and Milky Chance re-entering at 35 with Sadnecessary.
