A federal judge has ordered Brendan Dassey, the man convicted for assisting in the murder of Teresa Halbach as documented on the Netflix series, Making A Murderer, be released from prison after ten years behind bars.

The news comes only months after it was ruled that Dassey's constitutional rights were violated when he was interrogated about the murder of Halbach and that officers took advantage of the then-16-year-old without an adult present.

According to TMZ, the judge issued the order on Monday on the condition that Dassey, now 27, doesn't leave the eastern part of Wisconsin or obtain a passport, nor can be possess weapons or controlled substances.

Dassey has also been ordered not to have any contact with Steven Avery or the Halbach family.

While he will not be released immediately, attorney Steve Drizin said they hope to get Dassey out of prison very soon.

"It’s not going to happen today but we are very hopeful we will have Brendan home by Thanksgiving, if not sooner," Drizin told USA Today Network (via Milwaukee Journal Sentinel).

Making A Murderer attorneys Jerry Buting and Dean Strang were just in Australia for a speaking tour and chatting to The Music during their trip, the lawyers gave their thoughts on the second season of the acclaimed documentary currently in the works

"My hunch is that it’s going to be more focused on the post-conviction process, and how difficult it is once somebody is convicted to try and right that wrong," Buting said.
