His upcoming theatre tour will also back the Luke Batty Foundation
Having announced a new memoir and spoken word tour yesterday, rocker Jimmy Barnes has revealed he'll be opening up on his troubled childhood and youth delinquency during the Working Class Boy: An Evening Of Stories And Songs theatre tour.
You'll be hearing the 60-year-old's anecdotes about leaving Scotland at a young age and encountering violence and abuse as an immigrant, as well as how that led him to escape Adelaide as an 18-year-old to become a musician.
When Barnes announced the tour yesterday he explained, "I spent most of my life running from my childhood and now it seems like my time to face it.
"So this is the story of a lifetime spent running away. Running from fear. Running from shame but at the same time running from hope. I’m not running anymore."

The 18-date tour will be backing the Luke Batty Foundation in an effort to draw attention to and end family violence. Barnes' memoir Working Class Boy will hit bookshelves on 19 September.
