Japanese Wallpaper, Alex Lahey And More Join Maroochy Music & Visual Arts Festival

There's some good news and some bad news coming out of the upcoming Maroochy Music and Visual Arts Festival today, with confirmation of some huge artist joining the bill, while another notable act has pulled out of the September event. 

In what is a huge boost for MMVAF, triple j Unearthed Splendour in the Grass opener Alex Lahey has been announced as the headlining act for the Champagne & Oyster Garden stage after tearing up the North Byron Parklands last weekend, while the Ghetto Blaster stage will feature 15 DJs including triple j host Tom Tilley and Total Eclipse.

Acclaimed Melbourne songwriter Japanese Wallpaper has also been added to the bill in place of Sydney outfit Boo Seeka who have had to pull out of the festival due to international commitments. 

"Regrettably Boo Seeka will no longer be performing at Maroochy Music & Visual Arts Festival due to having been offered a US tour that was too good an opportunity to refuse," the duo said in a statement.

"We're very sorry to have to withdraw from this year's fest and hope to play Maroochy another year."

Meanwhile, a huge batch of visual artists will also present their work at the event including Chinese street artist Ochid and locals Zoe Porter, Gimiks Born & Thom Stuart.

The new names join a line-up that already includes the likes of Matt Corby, Peking Duk, Allday, George Maple and more.
