Adelaide, get ready for a groove-filled weekend this October. The second edition of Harvest Rock festival (or Harvest Rock II) was always going to have massive shoes to fill, with the inaugural event hosting exclusive sets from Jack White and Kurt Vile, as well as a roster packed with indie and rock heroes, including Sam Fender, Crowded House, Hot Chip and many more.

Does the second year of Harvest Rock live up to the lofty expectations set by its predecessor? It meets said hopes and then some.

This year’s run of the festival is headlined by another two Australian exclusives: Jamiroquai and Beck.

Jay Kay’s exploration of funk, soul, and acid jazz will melt minds on Saturday, 28 October, for his first appearance down under in almost 12 years. Beck, who was just here for Bluesfest and a run of solo shows, is treating his fans in Adelaide with a full-band set on Sunday, 29 October.

The fun doesn’t end there: Secret Sounds have locked in sets from Nile Rodgers & Chic, Aussie favourites Ocean Alley, Paul Kelly, indie rock heavyweights Bright Eyes, Built To Spill, The Lemon Twigs, Sparks (who will hopefully bring out Cate Blanchett for a recreation of their Glastonbury performance of The Girl Is Crying In Her Latte), New Zealand’s Ladyhawke, Santigold, Warpaint, and many more.

Harvest Rock has even more surprises up its sleeves, hinting at more acts to be announced before the festival takes place.

The local front comes in strong – as well as Ocean Alley and Paul Kelly, this year’s festival will host a DJ set from Flight Facilities, sets from Thelma Plum, Chet Faker, Julia Jacklin, tribute supergroup The Rolling Stone Revue (starring Magic Dirt’s Adalita, Tex Perkins, and Tim Rogers of You Am I), Bad//Dreems, Vera Blue, and more. You can check out the first line-up announcement below.

Tickets go on sale on Wednesday, 9 August, at 8:30 am ACST / 9 am AEST via Ticketmaster. You can sign up to the Harvest Rock website to access pre-sale tickets.

“Harvest Rock is back! We are so excited to present another weekend of incredible music, food, wine, and good times at Harvest Rock II,” Secret Sounds co-CEO Jessica Ducrou said in a statement. “We've lined up some of the world's most iconic international artists, alongside stellar talent from our own shores, and paired it with the best food and wine offerings from South Australia.

“At Harvest Rock, there's something for everyone; enjoy our cellar door pop-up or an exclusive lunch at the pop-up 'Wildwood' restaurant by Jake Kellie. We have Little Harvest for the little ones and The Grape Escape wellness precinct for those wanting some well-deserved R&R. Join us in October and experience Harvest Rock II in all its glory.”

South Australia’s Minister for Tourism, Zoe Bettison, added, “Excitement levels for the return of Harvest Rock have just gone ‘cosmic’, with an incredible line-up of international and local artists coming to our city’s parklands this October.

“Last year’s inaugural event brought almost 24,000 festival goers to the heart of Adelaide, with nearly one-third of those visiting from out-of-state. This year, with Australian exclusive performances by international headliners and an impressive list of iconic artists from across our nation and abroad, the wonderful momentum of Harvest Rock is only set to grow.”
