Here's what's been happening in the local indie scene this week

ON THE ROAD

Geelong rockers The Murlocs have announced a handful of shows for next month. The performances will launch their latest single Space Cadet. More.

Newcastle five-piece Seabellies will take their new album Fever Belle out on the road for an extensive run of dates over the coming months. Read on.

Electronica duo Black Cab have announced a few shows in Melbourne and Sydney, with the pair set to unveil tracks off their new Go Slow EP. Details.

Shoegazers Pretty City will play two special shows next month to celebrate the release of their debut EP Heights. They'll perform in Sydney and Melbourne. Info.

Brisbane indie kids The Jungle Giants have added some more dates to their current national tour. The band have named extra shows in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne and Geelong. More.

Sydney singer-songwriter Guineafowl has been named as a support act for Birds Of Tokyo at their upcoming headline shows. The Sydney muso has just released a new EP, I Hope My City Loves Me Still. Read On.

Local industrial metal outfit Witchgrinder have been announced as the support act for the upcoming tour from horror punk heavyweight Wednesday 13. Details.

EYE ON THE CHARTS

Sheppard's long-running stance at the top of the the singles/EP independent labels through independent distribution chart has been dismantled, for this week anyway. The Kite String Tangle's Given The Chance (October Records/Independent) has edged out the Brissy band's EP Sheppard (Independent/MGM) for the top spot. Flume's ARIA noms buzz has seen three of his tracks stay in the chart, with On Top (Future Classic/Independent) featuring T. Shirt making a big jump from 15 to seven.

We've got a new number one in the albums independent labels through independent distribution chart, with Indigenous hip hop artist Jimblah scoring top position with his record Phoenix (Elefant Traks/Inertia). This pushed Eskimo Joe's Wastelands (Dirt Diamond Productions/Inertia) down to third, with Chet Faker's Thinking In Textures (Opulent/Inertia) moving into second.

Other album debut this week came in the way of Circles with Infinitas (Basick Records/Independent) and Riverview Worship with their LP Whisper (Independent).

OTHER RELEASE NEWS

Perth's The Kill Devil Hills have a new live album on the way out and they've made it available to stream now. The band will take the record on the road next month. More.

Four-piece The Mountains have announced they'll be releasing a new EP and single before the year is out. They've worked with Mark Myers of The Starry Field and The Middle East fame. Read on.

Sydney venue The Standard will host a Halloween party this weekend, with Lady Killers the theme and a bunch of all-female fronted acts set to perform. She Rex, The Fabergettes, The Dark Hawks and Lily So will all take the stage. Details.
