ON THE ROAD

Sydney “emotional-ass, ten track concept rock” outfit Gang Of Youths have been confirmed as the support for the upcoming Laneway sideshows of Scots Frightened Rabbit. Read on.

Rock stalwarts Eskimo Joe have been confirmed for regional culture event Flix In The Stix. The band will perform at each of the nine dates scheduled for the festival. Details.

A handful of indie pop and rock acts are teaming up for a few shows next month. Bored Nothing, The Ocean Party, Bearhug and Deep Space Supergroop will play three shows along the east coast. Info.

EYE ON THE CHARTS

Family trio Uncle Jed have maintained their number one and two spots in the singles/EP independent labels through independent distribution chart this week. Give Me Love and Brother (Independent/Vitamin Records) stayed at first and second respectively.

Indie dance whiz Flume scored a debut entry in this week's chart, with his track Intro featuring Stalley (Future Classic/Independent) in at seven. This takes his tally in the listing to four. Emoh Instead also nabbed a first-time entry. His EP Say So (Sweat It Out/Xelon) debuted at 15.

Despite not being able to upset popstar Katy Perry in this week's ARIA Album chart, Western Sydney rapper Kerser is the king of the indies this week. In the albums independent labels through independent distribution chart, his third album S.C.O.T (Kerser N Nebs Records/Obese Records) debuted at number one. His previous two releases, No Rest For The Sickest and The Nubulizer (Obese Records) also re-entered at seven and 11 respectively.

Last week's number one King Amongst Many (Elefant Traks/Inertia) from hip hop duo Horrorshow dropped to three this week, while previous number two Kid Mac and his release Head Noise (Independent/MGM) plumeted out of the top 20.

Perth band The Leap Year will finally release their follow-up to 2007's A Little Push, A Pattern Appears. The five-piece will drop The Narrowing next month. Details.
