The inaugural iHeart Radio Australia Music Festival has been cancelled after the event failed to get another headline artist to join pop superstar Miley Cyrus.

The festival was scheduled to take place Saturday 18 October at Allphones Arena in Sydney, however a statement was released today by the event and promoters Dainty Group confirming the news.

"As a consequence of the unavailability of another headline act, due to be announced this week, we have cancelled the iHeart Radio Australia Music Festival for now," it read.

Cyrus was due to perform at the event alongside Cody Simpson and Redfoo, coinciding with her headline tour of the country.
