"It will provide a unique experience inside one of the city’s most recognisable buildings..."
Ahead of the full program announcement in August, Melbourne Music Week (MMW) have unveiled their incredible MMW Hub this week, none other than the iconic, storied State Library Victoria.
Having celebrated its 160th birthday this year, the State Library is home to nearly five million books, a slew of historical documents and priceless paintings and is our country's oldest public library. It'll be one of many diverse, hidden music spaces around Melbourne and is even featured in The Leftovers.
Melbourne's Lord Mayor Robert Doyle said, "State Library Victoria is a perfect backdrop for this year’s Melbourne Music Week Hub. It will provide a unique experience inside one of the city’s most recognisable buildings and reinvent the space from its traditional use into a vibrant live music venue."
Speaking of live music, MMW have offered up a teaser of some of the shows we can catch in the State Library Victoria's reading room, Queen's Hall, from 11-19 November. Though it's been closed to the public since 2003, it'll host a huge bill of amazing women like Julia Stone, Ella Hooper, Mojo Juju and more for Her Sound, Her Story: A Celebration Of Women In Music for MMW's opening night.
