Hackers Arm Themselves With AC/DC

25 July 2012 | 12:03 pm | Dan Condon

An Iranian nuclear science organisation has been forced to listen to Thunderstruck at maximum volume, thanks to hackers.

More AC/DC More AC/DC

Unconfirmed reports have filtered through from Iran on the weekend, stating that that country's Atomic Energy Organisation is under a malware attack that features involuntary blasts of AC/DC's classic 1990 hit Thunderstruck in the middle of the night at maximum volume.

This attack is believed to have been conducted using the open source hacker tool Metasploit, which hackers used to attack the company's automation network and hardware. It is not known who conducted the attack on the nuclear science facility at this time or whether there is a larger objective they were hoping to achieve.

Malware attacks are becoming more and more common, hackers using them to unearth information, shut down websites and services, spy on other countries' mechanical and scientific usage and, seemingly, force middle eastern scientists to expand their knowledge of Australian stadium rock'n'roll.
