This week should have been one of celebration for Georgia Knight, but unfortunately she’s pairing the crunchy with the smooth as she launches an appeal for the return of her gear.

On Tuesday, Knight was announced as the latest addition to the shortlist for the Australian Music Prize, being recognised for her debut album, Beanpole.

"Written largely on autoharp and filled with shadowed, cinematic soundscapes, the hugely impressive Beanpole weaves dark-pop moods with trip-hop pulses and sweeping, skewed synth layers, signalling a striking sonic departure from the artist’s folk origins,” one judge wrote of the record.

Beanpole Is a magnificent album."

However, while the day should have been one full of joy, Knight soon took to social media to reveal it had taken a sour turn, with the musician being on the receiving end of a theft while in the Melbourne suburb of Northcote.

“Really great news about the Australian Music Prize,” Knight began in a video shared to her Instagram Stories. “On another note, someone just stole my guitar from St. George's Road.

“If you see it, it's a black and white Telecaster – kind of a Partscaster – with a picture of a rat scratched into the back of it,” she added. “Send me a message if you see it.

“It's in a guitar case with my name on the front, with my mobile number on it, and there's a bunch of leads and, I don't know, I think my diary's in there as well, probably.”

All told, the theft included Knight’s guitar, leads, pedals, her telephone microphone, her harp tuner, and a number of books. Alongside the news of the roadside robbery, Knight shared an image of the guitar in question, appealing to fans to keep an eye out for it.

Anyone with information relating to the whereabouts of the missing items is urged to get in touch with Knight via her social media.
