Sydney producer too strong for teen pop star gone acoustic
Sydney producer Flume has ridden the wave of a strong Hottest 100 presence and festival prominence to bullet to the top of the ARIA Album Chart this week.
As well as four entries into triple j's poll, Flume geared up for his weekend Laneway sets and was announced on the Groovin The Moo line-up.
Sitting at 16 last week, the self-titled record even beat Justin Bieber's new album Believe Acoustic, which debuted at two. Mid-week chart figures last week had indicated that Flume would be the biggest beneficiary of a Hottest 100 bump, but few expected the album – which had previously peaked at two – to knock off the teen pop star and other titles from the likes of Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, whose album The Heist dropped to four.
His single Holdin' On also re-entered the ARIA Singles Chart at 25 – it's highest point.

Other bullet albums came from Alt-J's An Awesome Wave, which is up to 12 from 22, Frank Ocean's channel ORANGE, up to 17 from 30, Tame Impala's Lonersim, up to 21 from 33, The Rubens' The Rubens, up to 23 from 39, and triple j's own Live A Version 8, up to 25 from 44.
Last week's tour also gave a push to Keith Urban's The Story So Far compilation, which rose to 19 from 42 and Big Day Out's Alabama Shakes entered for the first time with Boys And Girls charting at 36 this week.
Seattle duo Macklemore & Ryan Lewis retained their grip on the Singles Chart however, with Same Love, featuring Mary Lambert, holding top spot and novelty Hottest 100-winning Thrift Shop, featuring Wanz, steady at two.
Birds Of Tokyo's new single Lanterns climbed to four on its second week in what is shaping up to be a strong track for the band. The track was the second most added track to Australian radio when it was released (only behind Jusitn Timberlake's comeback) and has featured on the TV promos for Channel Seven's Revenge drama.
