"We don't do cover charges at all, so the onus is really on us to fill the room."
Following a massive revamp of Sydney's famous Lady Hampshire Hotel, the venue officially opened last week as both a pub and live venue and was launched with by some big names.
Melbourne rockers The Delta Riggs took to the stage on launch night, with some assistance from hometown favourites Sticky Fingers and hip hop duo, The Meeting Tree.
Speaking to The Music, Lady Hampshire hotel owner Paddy Coughlan says he will pay homage to the historic venue with an "ongoing commitment to supporting creative endeavours".
"[Live music venues] are the beating heart of our city's cultural landscape and pubs, in particular, are a vital part in any young band's journey," Coughlan says.

Nestled conveniently outside of the lockout zone, Coughlan says there are a number of ways 'The Lady' differs from other live music venues in Sydney, which includes no cover charges.
"The onus is really on us to fill the room, which I've always thought gives the band the freedom to just come and play," he says.
"Doesn't always work, but its how we prefer to do it."
