DJ Tigerlily has been hospitalised after a recent health scare, being sent for emergency surgery after collapsing at her son’s playgroup.

Tigerlily, also known as Dara Hayes, was rushed to hospital after a burst appendix - a health concern she was unaware of beforehand.

The DJ, aged 32,  took to Instagram to update her fans on her condition.

“The last few days have been a wild ride… there have been tears, some new scars, and a rollercoaster of emotions,” she reflected before giving thanks to her “village” of people surrounding her.

“In particular, my mum and husband, for really holding down the fort at home while I’ve been in hospital. To all my beautiful friends who have sent flowers and food, and my wonderful colleagues for sorting out and postponing work in the background while I rest and recover.”

Having come out the other side of the process, Tigerlily shared a collection of photos detailing her hospital experience, including pictures of her husband Scott Lawson and 1-year-old son Lando, affectionately known as “mini disco”.

“To the nurses, doctors, surgeons and hospital staff that looked after me - thankyou! They are super heroes! I am so grateful to live in Sydney, so close to such an amazing hospital like Royal North Shore… from the moment I walked in the doors of ED to leaving days later, I felt so cared for and looked after.”

While the producer is recovering well, she feels “regret” announcing that her headlining shows at The Deck Bendigo and Billboard Melbourne over the weekend are to be postponed. Tigerlily stresses the thought that went into the decision.

“ I truly don’t take cancellations lightly, especially knowing how much effort goes into planning these events.

“I hate to disappoint my fans, and it’s important to me that I deliver the best performance possible when I am well again. Rest assured, I’ll be back doing what I love most very soon, and I can’t wait to share those moments with you all. Thank you for your understanding and support during this time.”

With her career skyrocketing in Australia after a 2011 Your Shot competition, which subsequently spread her success to the rest of the world, the DJ has endured massive success.

Prior to her hospitalisation, Tigerlily had spent 2024 balancing work and play. While balancing time with her son Lando, the producer has spent the second half of the year in Europe, playing the likes of Belgium’s esteemed Tomorrowland and clubs across Greece’s sprawling island nightlife.

Tigerlily’s upcoming shows are set to take place across several Australian cities in October and November; however, the verdict will depend on the producer’s health.

Rest and recovery is Tigerlily’s priority right now.
