Taylor SwiftTaylor Swift loves a countdown, and her fans know it. And let’s be honest, they love them, too.
Overnight (30 April in the US, 1 May in Australia), a 48-hour countdown was posted and swiftly deleted from the singer’s website. Fans quickly went into overdrive, investigating the Toy Story-esque clouds and accompanying The Life of a Showgirl-inspired font driving the countdown.
The countdown was deleted almost immediately, and Swift’s website went back to promoting her latest album, last year’s The Life of a Showgirl. While the countdown disappeared quickly, fans still managed to capture screenshots that are circulating on social media. You can see them below.
Toy Story 5 will hit cinemas in the US on 19 June, and with clouds that looked like they were pulled from the wallpaper in Andy’s room on Swift’s website, speculation has arisen that she may have a new song on its soundtrack.
USA Today notes that 19 June is a date that holds significance for Swift, as on that day in 2006, she released her debut single, Tim McGraw.
At the time of publication, Swift hasn’t commented on the countdown or her potential involvement with Toy Story 5.
Taylor Swift also made headlines this week for two reasons: a candid 30-minute interview with The New York Times and her TAS Rights Management filing to protect her voice and likeness at the US Patent and Trademark Office.

In the interview, Swift got nostalgic, honouring the emo songs that inspired her songwriting and giving shoutouts to the bands Fall Out Boy and Dashboard Confessional.
Meanwhile, in court, TAS Rights Management shared two sound bites to protect her voice and a visual image associated with Swift.
The management company reportedly seeks to trademark Swift’s voice, saying phrases like, “Hey, it’s Taylor Swift” and “Hey, it’s Taylor.” Meanwhile, the image shows Swift holding a pink guitar and performing in a “multi-coloured iridescent bodysuit with silver boots.”
Swift has previously been targeted in malicious AI-generated images and deepfakes, all of which circulated without her consent. She’s been the subject of AI chatbots on Meta, pornographic images, and, in the lead-up to the 2024 US Presidential Election, Donald Trump shared AI-generated pictures of Swift seemingly supporting him as a presidential candidate.
Swift’s latest album, The Life of a Showgirl, was released last October.
