“People might be surprised, but this is where I’m most at home; this is the sound I was raised on,” Briggs reveals.

Briggs has officially launched his heavy new project, Big Noter, in which he raps over metal, punk, and hardcore riffs.
Fans were introduced to the name Big Noter in February when Briggs’ new hustle was listed on Tom Morello’s Australian tour poster. Big Noter will open for the Rage Against The Machine icon on his Bluesfest sideshows starting next weekend (13 April).
Today, though, we’ve finally gotten a taste of the Big Noter project.
Introducing his new music with the single IDENTITY, it’s Briggs like you’ve never heard him. His raps are more aggressive than ever, while the guitar is nostalgic in its delivery. The hardcore and punk energy laced throughout the track makes for an undeniably fun listen. Check out the lyric video below.
A proud Yorta-Yorta/Wurundjeri/Wemba-Wemba man from country Victoria, Briggs is best known for his signature hip-hop beats. But with this new project, he gets to flex a different side of his artistry, all while returning to the music of his youth. He explains, “People might be surprised, but this is where I’m most at home; this is the sound I was raised on.”

IDENTITY was released today via Island Records/Universal Music Australia. Briggs enlisted acclaimed engineer Nick Didia (Rage Against The Machine, Pearl Jam, Bruce Springsteen) for the single. For the upcoming Big Noter live shows, the band will consist of Briggs (vocals), Steve Smith (drums), Leigh Davies (guitars) and Craig Strain (bass).
Over the last 15 years, Briggs has headlined shows, appeared at festivals, and opened for legendary artists across the hip-hop and metal spectrum in Australia, the UK and Europe, including Body Count, Ice Cube, MF DOOM, Ghostface Killah, and Pharoahe Monch.
The drop of IDENTITY comes after Briggs recently shared pictures and videos discussing his relationships with Black Flag icon Henry Rollins, NOFX, and Pennywise, amongst others.
According to a press release, Big Noter's debut album is on the way. Fans will likely get a taste of unreleased music as the band opens for Tom Morello this month.
