Today, Melbourne's Belle Haven release their new single, the powerful and emotionally charged, 'The Carving Knife'.
Much like that brilliant True Detective scene, or to keep things within music, the recent videos from Sleep Talk and Foxblood, this new music video was a one-take, one-shot, of which the band did entirely themselves. Well along with some help from Cian Marangos, of course. This video/track also marks the first official release of their recently added drummer, Jake Zammit, too, who has fit right in with the band's sound perfectly it seems.
To write the song, the band locked themselves within a beach house for three days solid only to emerge with this emotionally charged track that's come straight from the members own of experiences. Vocalist David Vernon said "Lyrically, working on The Carving Knife was a new experience for me. The rest of the guys came into the process when I would usually only work on it alone. This helped to create the best version of what I wanted to write."
The track was produced and engineered by the man himself, Matthew Goldman at Glow In The Dark Studios in the states, and was then mixed by Matt McClellan and mastered by Kris Crummett over at Interlace Audio in Portland, Oregon. Guitarist Christopher Vernon felt it was one of the most united pieces that they had done as a band, saying, "It felt like we were all on the same page when writing The Carving Knife. We definitely wanted to make sure the whole song vibe was right, and we achieved that."
