Beavis and Butt-head became a cult hit through the mid-90s for its comedic portrayal of youth American culture, following its protagonists lives at school, watching music videos and attempting to "score" with "chicks". It ran on television from 1993 to 1997, and was adapted into a movie entitled "Beavis and Butt-head Do America".
The show became known (and hugely popular) for its immature humour and the incessant idiotic laughter of Beavis and Butt-head throughout. Another hallmark of the show was its inclusion of music videos, particularly heavy metal clips, which the two characters would comment upon and make fun of. Beavis was generally portrayed in a blue Metallica shirt, while Butt-head wore a grey AC/DC shirt.
While the new program is expected to maintain a similar format and audio-visual style, with the two characters still attending high school. It will however include contemporary music videos. The new series is said to now be in production, and is expected to air sometime in 2011.
