Two super-fun showings involving transatlantic punk-rock and post-punk faves? Yes, please
US punk crew Beach Slang and British post-punk outfit Spring King are putting aside old transatlantic rivalries to engage in a pair of co-headline Splendour In The Grass sideshows this July.
Less than three years after they formed, Beach Slang have asserted themselves as a ridiculously fun and hard-working band, not only earning acclaim through their early 7-inches Cheap Thrills On A Dead End Street and Who Would Ever Want Something So Broken? but their 2015 debut full-length The Things We Do To Find People Who Feel Like Us, which saw them pick up significant airplay here in Australia. They played 10 shows across this year's South By Southwest showcase in Austin, Texas, earlier this year, so if you've any concerns at all that they're not experienced enough for this sort of jaunt, put them to rest.
Equally meteoric in their rise have been Manchester four-piece Spring King, who turned critical heads and even earned the fandom of tastemaking Brit Zane Lowe soon after bursting forth back in 2014. In fact, so smitten with the band was Lowe that he made their track City the very first song he broadcast on his debut show aboard Apple's Beats 1 radio. Between that song and new cut Rectifier, it's little surprise that Spring King are an increasing presence on global radio, and are set to provide a hell of a show for local fans come this July.
