Ball Park MusicThere's a distinctly local flavour about this week's midweek figures on the ARIA Albums Chart, with two Australian debuts pushing into the top five.
Ball Park Music released their album Puddinghead last week (through Stop Start/Inertia) and the Brisbane band are proving to be the week's big release and a definite contender (probably favourites) for the number one spot. The position is currently held by INXS's The Very Best.
Dan Sultan is also tracking well with his new album Blackbird, slightly behind Ball Park Music but well in the hunt for a top five. With The Used's Imaginary Enemy behind them, the midweek figures are indicating that it's all to play for at the pointy end of the chart and the Wednesday through Friday sales will be crucial.
That's not the only good news for Australian acts; on the back of their recently sold out tour Violent Soho fever is running at a high and their 2013 album Hungry Ghost continues to bullet back up the rankings – it'll be top 15 this week.
Other album debuts will come from Marcia Hines' Amazing and Manchester Orchestra's Cope, though they'll probably be around the top 40 mark.
Nirvana's Nevermind has had a modest sale boost around the anniversary of Kurt Cobain's passing, while The Eagles' The Very Best Of The Eagles rises on the back of strong tour rumours and regular mover Fleetwood Mac's The Very Best Of Fleetwood Mac has another slight boost.
