Other requirements include being fully vaccinated and have no contracts or agreements with any other TV program, producer or record label.

Australian Idol will be returning to Channel 7 next year and they're now taking applicants for the auditions. The show will air on national TV for the first time in 24 years.

The show will only allow people between the ages of 15-28 to participate in the show, with applications asking for hopeful entrants to upload a video or sing-face-to-face with an Australian Idol producer to proceed to the judges' audition for the first round of the competition.

Other requirements include being an Australian citizen or permanent resident, be full vaccinated with three doses of the vaccine and not have any contract, arrangement or agreement with any other TV program, producer or record label.

The show was original set to return in 2020, before being delayed to 2022 due to the pandemic. After further delays, the show will air next year.

On the re-announcement in 2020, Seven's director of programming stated, "Idol is the granddaddy of them all! The biggest show in the world comes to Seven in 2022, and we know Australians are going to love it. We can’t wait to bring Idol back to Australian audiences in 2022, putting our primetime content line-up even further ahead of the competition.

"We’re home to the biggest franchises in television at Seven, and Idol is the biggest of them all. Bring on 2022!”
