Tamworth Bump For ARIA; Locals Invade Hottest 100

While a US hip hop album, adorned in a stars and stripes flag, is the week's highest debuting album on the Australia Day weekend, 21-year-old Sydney lad Flume dominated the annual Hottest 100.

As US hipster R&B artist A$AP Rocky made the week's highest debut in this week's ARIA Albums Chart - coming in at seven with Long Live A$AP - two local country acts made the week's only other debuts.

Tasmania's The Wolfe Brothers entered at 18 with It's On while Queensland's O'Shea (now based in Nashville) came in at 24 with One + One. Both artists released their albums to coincide with the annual Tamworth Country Music Festival and have been heavily promoted throughout this year's event.

Saturday saw the unveiling of triple j's Hottest 100 which this year, as expected, was topped by novelty US hip hop track Thrift Shop by Macklemore & Ryan Lewis. However, 41 songs in the 100 were Australian, four of those inlvolving local club star Flume: Holdin On at four; Sleepless at 12; his remix of Hermitude's HyperParadise at 18; On Top at 67.

Quite a few Australian artists featured twice in this year's Hottest 100 including: Ball Park Music, Chance Waters, The Rubens, The Presets, San Cisco, Seth Sentry and Tame Impala. Read the full Hottest 100 here.

Waving the flag for Aussies in the US this weekend was Guy Sebastian. Also the only local act in the ARIA top ten albums this week, Sebastian's Battle Scars is slowly re-climbing the US top 100 as it moves from 96 to 88 (it previously peaked at 76).
