The bad news – it’s the only Aussie entry in the Top 40 on both the albums and singles charts.

More Peach PRC More Peach PRC

Peach PRC has become the second Australian artist to top ARIA’s albums chart in 2023, with her debut EP Manic Dream Pixie arriving at #1.

“To go #1 on the charts with my first ever EP is absolutely unreal and like actually insane,” the Adelaide artist said. “I’m so beyond grateful.”

Peach PRC – whose real name is Shaylee Curnow – is one bright spot in yet another dismal chart for Aussie artists. Manic Dream Pixie is the only local entry in this week’s Top 40.

As well as the single Australian entry, this week’s Top 40 features 26 albums by American artists, nine by UK acts, three by Canada’s The Weeknd and one by Dutch DJ Tiësto.

And for the third week in a row, there’s not a single Australian song in ARIA’s Top 40.

The Top 40 singles chart features artists from nine countries – the US, UK, South Korea, Canada, the Netherlands, Nigeria, Cameroon, France and Germany – but no Australian artists.

The highest-ranking local release is The Kid LAROI’s collab with Justin Bieber, Stay, which is at #48 in its 94th week on the chart.

Nineteen weeks into 2023, only five Australian singles have made the Top 40. Just two have reached the Top 10, led by Flume’s single with MAY-A, Say Nothing, which peaked at #4.

Peach PRC is the second local artist to top the albums chart this year, following Cub Sport’s Jesus At The Gay Bar, which hit #1 last month.

At the same time last year, five Australian albums had topped the charts.

Nine local albums have cracked the Top 10 so far this year, but eight of them exited the Top 40 the following week. Only Spacey Jane’s Here Comes Everybody has hit the Top 10 and then stayed in the Top 40, spending six weeks in the Top 40.

ARIA also has an Australian albums chart, listing the Top 20 local releases. This week’s chart features just five albums released this year.
