They’re arguably one of the biggest Aussie rock exports of recent times, and as they get ready to support one of the world’s biggest bands, Amyl And The Sniffers have announced a free hometown show for this Friday.
Taking place on the evening of Friday, November 14th, the Melbourne rockers will take over Fed Square for a free gig which is set to turn the city into a heaving celebration of sweaty rock and roll.
The event – officially titled High Voltage Featuring Amyl And The Sniffers – will see the group supported by Public Figures, a nascent pop rock outfit comprising Evie Vlah and Gigi Argiro, who will offer up a handful of their own originals interspersed with classic AC/DC cuts.
Fittingly, the show takes place just a kilometre from where they will launch a series of massive shows in support of AC/DC themselves. Joining as the main support for the iconic Aussie rockers, their appearances on the PWR UP Tour will see Amyl And The Sniffers performing their incendiary compositions to stadiums full of rock fans – their biggest crowds to date.
Further underlining the vibe of the evening, Amyl And The Sniffers’ set will be preceded by a bagpipe performance of AC/DC’s It’s A Long Way To The Top (If You Wanna Rock ’n’ Roll), which celebrates its 50th anniversary next month, with its iconic music video being filmed just down the road from Fed Square in February 1976.

The tour support (and newly-announced free show) are just the latest achievements in another big year for Amyl And The Sniffers, who are next week up for six awards at the ARIA Awards, and recently grabbed their first-ever Grammy nomination.
The forthcoming Fed Square show is just the latest in a series of high-profile events at the central Melbourne location, which has previously included appearances by the likes of Kneecap, Eddy Current Suppression Ring, Robbie Williams, King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard, and more.
“Amyl And The Sniffers are one of Australia’s most explosive live acts,” said MAP Co Director & CEO Katrina Sedgwick OAM. “Fearless, magnetic, and completely unmissable.
“High Voltage continues Fed Square’s commitment to bringing iconic artists to the heart of Melbourne, celebrating the city’s proud music heritage with events that are free, open and welcoming to all.”
It all takes place on Friday, November 14th from 7:30pm, though audiences are urged to get there early, with massive crowds expected.
