Amanda Palmer will return to Australia in February for a series of headline shows with her band, The Grand Theft Orchestra.
Best known as the driving force behind The Dresden Dolls, Palmer has also made a name for herself as a solo performer. The multi-talented chanteuse has released three studio albums, the most recent being Theatre Is Evil.
However, it hasn’t been all smooth sailing for Palmer. She recently received harsh backlash from fans following a request for musicians to perform with her on tour, free of charge. Palmer’s offer to reimburse volunteers in “beer and hugs” led to heated criticism from fans, even prompting an outburst from legendary producer Steve Albini.
Albini has since apologised for his comments. Meanwhile, Palmer has responded to her detractors via a lengthy post on her blog.
